Starting from April 1st 2013 Emmaus Lambeth have been working with Lambeth Council to deliver it’s Emergency Support Scheme. Instead of being given cash grants, residents in emergency situations are being given in-kind goods such as fridges, beds and electric cookers that will be supplied by Emmaus.
We are really excited about this new partnership and will be opening a new shop in Brixton to support the scheme. This shop is council owned but has been vacant since the late 1980′s. We have completely redeveloped the property and brought it back to life. Emmaus is therefore playing its part in regenerating the local area and providing volunteering opportunities and work experience for Lambeth residents.
